Finding the Right Agent Not all agents work the same way. The most important attributes of an agent are that he/she is loyal, knowledgeable, hard working, and committed to netting you the most money. Ask he/she to provide you with information on past sales, current listings, demonstrate a customized marketing plan for your property, and provide solid references. Make sure the agent is responsive to your needs. It is often a good idea to interview more than one agent.

newspapers and other periodicalsWhen your home will be placed in the MLS and in what countiesWhat internet sites will feature your homeWhat national relocation companies will be utilizedWho will be responsible for showing your home, conducting your open houses, preparing the sales contract on your behalf, etc.Who is the one person you can call for the latest details on your transaction from the moment you list until the time you receive your closing checkHow will the real estate commission be split between the listing and the selling realtorWhat type of brochures will be prepared for your home and to whom they will be distributed, etc.
Before you choose an agent, don't hesitate to examine samples of anything you were promised and ask for copies of proposed advertising for your specific home.
Try to go with an experienced agent that will work fairly and equitably on your behalf. Find out what the agent and the agency sold in your area. The agency's track record in distant areas will not sell your home. Be leery of any agent that appears more interested in themself than in meeting your needs. Also find out what the agent actually sold and what was sold by another firm. The real estate term "sold" refers to properties sold by the listing agency as well as listings sold by outside firms. Make sure the agent you choose understands your expectations, is familiar with local market conditions, knows what's hot or not in your area, is ready to service your listing from start to finish, has the time to handle all facets of your transation, and is committed to returning your calls personally.
